Deputy Attorney General, Dr. Justice Srem-Sai, has disclosed that the prime suspect in the murder of investigative journalist Ahmed Hussein-Suale will soon be re-arrested as part of renewed efforts to bring closure to the high-profile case.
Speaking to journalists in Accra on Monday, Dr. Srem-Sai revealed that the Office of the Attorney-General and the Ghana Police Service are coordinating closely to ensure that justice is served after years of stalled investigations.
“The suspect in Ahmed Suale’s case will be re-arrested,” he said. “There have been fresh developments in the investigation, and we are working with the relevant agencies to move swiftly.”
He explained that the re-arrest is based on new evidence gathered through recent forensic reviews and intelligence cooperation, which have revived confidence in the state’s pursuit of the perpetrators behind Suale’s assassination.
“The Attorney-General’s Office is fully committed to prosecuting this matter once all investigative processes are completed. We owe it to the memory of Ahmed Suale and the public to see this case through,” Dr. Srem-Sai added.
The Deputy Attorney General further urged the public to allow law enforcement authorities to conclude their work without speculation or political interference, stressing that justice may have been delayed, but it will not be denied.
Ahmed Hussein-Suale, a key member of investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas’ Tiger Eye P.I. team, was shot dead in Madina, Accra, in January 2019, after his identity was revealed on national television.
Despite several arrests and interrogations over the years, no one has been convicted for his murder — a development that has long fueled calls for renewed action.
Dr. Srem-Sai’s latest assurance marks the strongest indication yet that the state is moving toward a breakthrough in one of Ghana’s most significant unsolved murder cases.
