Prof Opoku-Agyemang is Irrefutably Qualified to Become President – Haruna Iddrisu

Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has thrown his weight behind Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, describing her as an indisputable candidate capable of becoming Ghana’s first female President.

His endorsement came during the Ghana Teacher Prize event held at the University of Health and Allied Sciences on Sunday, October 5, where he reiterated his admiration for the Vice President’s leadership qualities, vision, and integrity.

Speaking to the gathering, Iddrisu highlighted that the Vice President’s track record in academia, governance, and national service positions her as a credible figure to assume the highest office of the land.

“There were many of you who sought to give it your own interpretation. Prof Jane, I am reminding them that my mother taught me that sometimes silence is golden because silence cannot be interpreted. But this one, I wanted an interpretation — because a Vice President irrefutably is a presumption that she can assume the high office of President, irrefutably,” he stressed.

Iddrisu further noted that Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s calm yet firm leadership style has earned her respect across political divides and in civil society, making her a unifying figure in Ghanaian politics. He urged Ghanaians to begin embracing the possibility of female leadership at the highest level, emphasizing that her presidency would break barriers and inspire future generations of women.

His remarks add to the growing public conversation around succession, leadership, and gender representation in Ghana’s political landscape, particularly as both major political parties prepare for crucial contests ahead of the 2028 elections.
