‘EOCO has seized my Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Land Cruiser, 13 other luxury cars’ – Wontumi claims

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has alleged that the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has seized 15 of his luxury vehicles, including a Rolls-Royce, Bentley, and Land Cruiser.

Speaking on Adom FM on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, Wontumi said the confiscation was unjustified, insisting that he had lawfully acquired the vehicles through a legitimate dealer who fulfilled all import and registration requirements.

“I have been quiet. As we are talking now, 15 of my cars have been confiscated by EOCO. I bought all the cars from Bright, who is close to the NPP office at Asylum Down. He paid the port fees and everything. My Bentley, Rolls-Royce, and my Land Cruiser have been taken, but I have been quiet because I don’t want to be talking about my own issues,” Wontumi lamented.

He added that he would leave the matter in the hands of God, saying: “One day, God will speak for me.”

The development follows Wontumi’s recent detention by EOCO, though it remains unclear if the seizure of his vehicles is directly linked.

Meanwhile, Deputy Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Justice Srem Sai, has confirmed that Chairman Wontumi is under investigation for serious offences, including fraud, causing financial loss to the state, and money laundering.

According to Justice Srem Sai, Wontumi is also implicated in a wider international organised crime investigation. He revealed in a May 29, 2025 statement that EOCO is working closely with international law enforcement agencies to unravel the alleged network of illicit activities.

Chairman Wontumi, who was released from EOCO custody earlier this year, continues to face mounting legal and political scrutiny as the investigations progress.
