Hon. Hajia Zuwera Mohammed, Member of Parliament for Salaga-South, has taken part in the prestigious Invest Africa Forum in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, as part of efforts to attract investment into her constituency.
The forum, held under the theme “Shared Markets. Shared Future,” brought together more than 500 leaders from government, finance, and industry to explore ways of deepening economic cooperation between Africa and the UAE.
One of the key highlights was Africa’s growing role as an investment destination. The UAE, now Africa’s largest foreign investor, committed more than $110 billion between 2019 and 2023, with $72 billion directed towards renewable energy projects. The discussions also spotlighted Africa’s potential in the global green hydrogen economy, smart infrastructure, and agribusiness.
Several landmark deals were announced at the forum, including ADNOC/XRG’s entry into Mozambique’s Rovuma Basin and IHC/IRH’s $1.1 billion acquisition of Zambia’s Mopani Copper Mines.
For Salaga-South, agriculture remains a major focus. Hon. Hajia Zuwera engaged prospective investors on ways to tap into the constituency’s rich agricultural potential. She emphasized that agribusiness investment, as showcased at similar gatherings like the OIC Investment Forum in Africa, holds immense promise for both local farmers and the wider economy.
Hon. Hajia Zuwera Mohammed’s participation in the Dubai forum underscores her commitment to connecting Salaga-South with international investment networks. The move is expected to attract strategic partnerships that can drive infrastructure development, strengthen agribusiness, and create sustainable jobs for her constituency.
