Education Will Anchor My Leadership Vision – Adutwum

Former Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has pledged to make education the cornerstone of his leadership should he secure the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer slot and subsequently the presidency in 2028.

Launching his campaign at Adansi Asokwa in the Ashanti Region, Dr. Adutwum emphasized that education is the single most effective tool for transforming Ghana’s future.

“Education remains the most effective tool for transforming the country and positioning it for long-term growth and development,” he declared.

He argued that investing in quality, accessible education would not only empower the youth but also strengthen Ghana’s competitiveness on the global stage.

Beyond education, Dr. Adutwum placed accountability at the center of his leadership philosophy, warning that leaders who fail to enforce oversight risk being undermined by those tasked with implementing their vision.

“Accountability is the key to achieving better performance in governance. Without it, the very people entrusted to support your vision may end up becoming the greatest source of disappointment,” he noted.

The former minister, who appeared before the NPP vetting committee just two days prior, has already embarked on what he calls a “Hope Tour” across the Ashanti Region, seeking to consolidate grassroots support.

The NPP presidential primary, slated for January 31, 2026, is expected to be hotly contested by former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, Abetifi MP Bryan Acheampong, and Dr. Adutwum himself.
