Abuakwa South MP, Dr. Kingsley Agyeman, has declared his firm support for former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, describing him as the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) strongest candidate to secure victory in the 2028 general elections.
Dr. Agyeman is part of a group of 15 Eastern Region NPP lawmakers who have openly endorsed Dr. Bawumia’s flagbearer bid.
In an interview with Sammi Wiafe on Eyewitness News on Wednesday, September 24, Dr. Agyeman said the MPs’ backing reflects the overwhelming sentiments of their constituents.
“We believe history will be fair to Dr. Bawumia. He is the only candidate capable of winning 2028 for us. Our people have given us the mandate to support him, and the majority are fully behind him,” he affirmed.
Dr. Bawumia is expected to contest the NPP flagbearership against several other prominent figures, including former General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong, former Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong, Abetifi MP Bryan Acheampong, and former Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum.
