Aggrieved teachers threaten demo Sept 30 over 12-month salary arrears

The Aggrieved Newly Posted Teachers group has given government a one-week ultimatum to address the non-payment of their salaries or face a massive protest on Monday, September 30.

The group, made up of graduates from Colleges of Education and universities, says some members have been unpaid for 12 months, while others have gone eight months without salaries.

According to the teachers, despite submitting a petition to the Ministry of Education and other relevant authorities on September 8, their concerns remain unresolved.

Lead Convener Simon Kofi Nartey described the situation as unacceptable, warning that members are prepared to hit the streets if government fails to act.

“It is rather unfortunate that as we speak, nothing has been done about the concerns we raised at our press conference. We have no option but to take to the streets to let Ghanaians know what is happening. We have already met with the Greater Accra Regional Police Command and agreed on September 30 for the demonstration,” he stated.

The teachers are demanding the immediate release of their salaries and a clear roadmap to prevent similar delays in the future.
