National Chairman of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has urged party members to remain calm, disciplined, and united as President John Mahama’s administration gradually creates more opportunities for appointments.
Speaking during a meeting with branch and constituency executives, ward coordinators, former officials, cadres, and Assembly members in the Asuogyaman Constituency, Mr. Asiedu Nketiah assured supporters that patience would be rewarded, noting that the party leadership is working to ensure no loyal member is left out.
He was in the Eastern Region as part of a three-day “Thank You Tour” following the NDC’s electoral victory.
Addressing concerns from members yet to secure government roles, he appealed for restraint and understanding, stressing that internal divisions could undermine the government’s stability.
The NDC Chairman also cautioned against repeating the mistakes of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), whose internal flagbearer contest he described as chaotic and destructive.
“If we do what we want with the positions we have gotten, our party will be divided like the NPP’s. But I know that will never happen,” he said.
“What the NPP is now doing is a contest to hell. The flagbearer aspirants are criticising each other and enumerating the sins and faults of each other,” he added.
Mr. Asiedu Nketiah emphasised that unity, discipline, and collective focus are crucial to sustaining the NDC’s momentum and avoiding the infighting that, in his view, is weakening the opposition.
