The Ministry of Education has cautioned parents and guardians not to pay money to anyone claiming to secure senior high school (SHS) placements for their children under the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS).
“Placement is free. Do not pay money to anyone who claims he/she can help you with placement. Anyone who demands money in exchange for placement is a fraudster and should be reported to the police immediately,” Deputy Minister of Education, Dr. Clement Apaak, stressed.
The CSSPS officially goes live today, September 17, with students who sat for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) set to be placed in schools across the country. Dr. Apaak assured that the system had been improved to avoid the challenges seen in previous years.
Scramble for Grade ‘A’ Schools
Acknowledging the limited spaces in top-tier schools, the Deputy Minister urged parents to accept placements as assigned, except in cases of obvious errors such as boys being placed in girls’ schools or vice versa.
“We will not interfere by manually manipulating the system. Success is not predicated on attending a Grade ‘A’ school but on discipline, parental support, and commitment to academics,” he said.
Resolution Centre Established
To address genuine challenges, a resolution centre has been set up at the GNAT Hall in Accra, with adequate security and a 24-hour service to ensure issues are resolved before students report to school next month.
