The Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, Togbe Afede XIV, has called on government to intensify the fight against corruption, describing it as one of the biggest obstacles to Ghana’s development.
Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony for the redevelopment of the Atimpoku–Asikuma–Anyirawase–Ho–Denu–Aflao road in Ho on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, Togbe Afede commended government’s Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) initiative but said stronger action is needed.
“The government must confront corruption directly. I am encouraged by the ORAL project, and I believe that combined with innovative policies like the 24-hour economy, it can drive the kind of transformation we seek and strengthen Ghana’s role as a model for Africa,” he stated.
He emphasised that coupling robust anti-corruption measures with transformative economic programmes such as the 24-hour economy would stimulate growth, expand job opportunities, and rebuild citizens’ trust in governance.
