The National Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has established an Ad Hoc Committee to monitor and safeguard the integrity of campaigns ahead of the party’s presidential primaries on January 31, 2026.
The move follows a meeting with aspiring presidential candidates on Thursday, September 11, 2025. According to a statement released on Monday, September 15, the committee will ensure campaigns are conducted fairly, transparently, and in line with NPP values.
The committee’s responsibilities include: monitoring the conduct of aspirants and their supporters, reviewing petitions about hate speech, insults, or abusive language, and recommending sanctions or disciplinary actions where necessary.
Ing. Dr. Kwasi Abeasi chairs the committee, with members Dr. Alex Glover-Quartey, Ato Hamilton, Kwadwo Afari, and Mark Opoku.
The Council of Elders called on all aspirants and campaign teams to cooperate fully, stressing that the party remains committed to a peaceful, respectful, and dignified primary process that strengthens unity and readiness for the national elections.
