Hon. Hajia Zuwera rallies for social inclusion at 2025 Damba Festival

The Member of Parliament for Salaga South, Hon. Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, has underscored the importance of social inclusion as a driver of peaceful coexistence and sustainable development.

Speaking at this year’s Damba Festival, she highlighted the celebration’s dual role — honouring the birth and naming of Prophet Muhammad while showcasing Ghana’s unity and rich cultural heritage through chieftaincy.

The MP outlined several government-led initiatives under President John Dramani Mahama’s administration, including women and youth empowerment, healthcare, agriculture, and education reforms.

A major highlight was the announcement of a $2 billion agricultural and agro-industrial project in East Gonja, expected to create over 10,000 jobs and irrigate 200,000 hectares of land for year-round farming.

She also launched the H.B. Braimah Education Fund, aimed at upgrading school infrastructure and supporting needy students. On infrastructure, she assured residents of an aggressive road development programme to connect communities and spur economic activity.

In healthcare, Hon. Hajia Zuwera confirmed that work will begin soon on the stalled Salaga Municipal Hospital project, alongside efforts to improve clean water and sanitation access.

Touching on international partnerships, she cited collaborations with Russian partners, including a sister-city arrangement with Novosibirsk, to support STEM education, agriculture, and health initiatives.

She further stressed the importance of empowering women and the youth through dedicated funds, urging collective community action to drive prosperity.

The MP concluded by reaffirming her commitment to ensuring no one in Salaga South is left behind, while celebrating the unity and heritage embodied in the Damba Festival.
