The Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mubarak, has renewed the curfew hours imposed on Sampa Township in the Jaman North District of the Bono Region following violent clashes that left one person dead and others injured.
By Executive Instrument, and acting on the advice of the Bono Regional Security Council, the curfew will run from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. daily, effective Thursday, September 11, 2025.
In a statement, the Ministry urged chiefs, opinion leaders, and residents of the town to remain calm and adopt peaceful, non-violent channels to address grievances.
“Meanwhile, there is a total ban on all persons in Sampa Township in Jaman North District of the Bono Region from carrying arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons. Any person found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted,” the statement warned.
The decision follows chieftaincy-related disturbances on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, which escalated into violence, leading to the loss of life and several injuries.
The Ghana Police Service confirmed that reinforcement teams have been deployed to the area to restore calm, intensify patrols, and maintain order within Sampa and nearby communities.
