We’re Here to Restore the Soul of the Nation – Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has described the December 7 elections as a “national reawakening,” setting Ghana on a new path of honesty, accountability, and effective governance.

Speaking at his first media engagement on Wednesday, September 10, the President said the polls signaled not just a change in leadership but a shift in the country’s political culture.

“The December 7 election was a national reawakening. It was a change of call, not just for leadership, but a change of direction, honesty, accountability, and a reset,” he said.

Mr. Mahama emphasized that his administration inherited a nation weighed down by hardship and disillusionment with excuses from the political elite. Ghanaians, he noted, were yearning for leadership that delivers results rather than empty promises.

“It was a different kind of government, one that listens and one that acts and cares. I knew we had inherited a nation that was tired of excuses by the political elite, weighed down by hardships and yearning for leadership that performs and not just promises,” he stressed.

The President assured citizens that his government is committed to addressing economic challenges and rebuilding trust.

“We’re here to restore the soul of the nation and revive its economy,” he declared.
