Government’s 24-hour economy plan to support businesses, create jobs & strengthen industries – Julius Debrah

Chief of Staff Julius Debrah has reaffirmed government’s commitment to building a 24-hour economy, saying the policy will ease bottlenecks for businesses and expand opportunities for Ghanaian enterprises.

Speaking on Sunday, September 7, during Day Two of the This Is Ghana Exhibition in Accra, Mr. Debrah said the initiative is tailored to create an enabling environment where businesses can thrive.

“Our 24-hour economy policy is designed to create more opportunities, reduce bottlenecks, and ensure that Ghanaian businesses operate in an environment that matches their ambition and creativity,” he stated.

He commended key state institutions such as the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), Ghana Exim Bank, and the Ghana Enterprises Agency for supporting local businesses, noting that their involvement reflects government’s determination to expand access to finance, scale up Ghanaian enterprises, and position them for global competition.

Mr. Debrah also urged citizens to patronise Made-in-Ghana products, stressing that buying local strengthens industries and creates jobs.

“You are not just showcasing products—you are showcasing Ghana’s future. With persistence, quality, and innovation, Ghana can rise to occupy its rightful place in the global market,” he told exhibitors.

He added that reducing overreliance on foreign goods would directly accelerate national development and job creation. Government, he assured, will continue to provide the right environment for local enterprises, since their success translates into progress for the entire nation.

The This Is Ghana Exhibition, described as the ultimate Made-in-Ghana experience, provides a platform for businesses to showcase creativity, engage consumers, and attract investment. Exhibitors benefit from feedback, networking, and potential long-term partnerships.

The event features packaged foods, beverages, fashion, electronics, home accessories, health and beauty products, and research innovations. Visitors can also enjoy authentic Ghanaian meals, local drinks, and freshly prepared dishes at the Grills Village, alongside cultural performances, live music, entertainment, and a Kids’ Corner.

The exhibition runs daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with free entry.
