Every Made-in-Ghana purchase creates jobs for our youth – Chief of Staff Julius Debrah

Chief of Staff Julius Debrah has called on Ghanaians to reduce their reliance on foreign goods and actively support local industries, stressing that patronising Made-in-Ghana products is key to job creation and national development.

Speaking on Sunday, September 7, during the second day of the This is Ghana Exhibition in Accra, Mr. Debrah encouraged citizens to take pride in consuming homegrown products, noting that doing so strengthens industries and drives economic growth.

“Our fabrics, our food, our crafts, our technology solutions—all these reflect a Ghanaian identity that is strong, unique, and world-class. To our exhibitors, let me say this: you are not just showcasing products. You are showcasing Ghana’s future,” he said.

He urged Ghanaians to move beyond slogans and demonstrate commitment by making conscious choices in their daily lives.

“When you fill your home with Made-in-Ghana goods, you directly support jobs for our youth. Don’t take pride in saying you wear products from abroad while creating jobs for their teenagers. Choose Ghanaian, and you create jobs for our children,” he added.

Mr. Debrah assured that government will continue providing the enabling environment for local businesses to thrive, explaining that the success of enterprises translates into broader national progress.

The This is Ghana Exhibition, dubbed “the ultimate Made-in-Ghana experience,” serves as a platform for Ghanaian businesses to showcase their creativity, connect with consumers, and attract investment.

Products on display include packaged foods, beverages, fashion, home accessories, electronics, health and beauty items, and research innovations. Visitors also enjoy authentic Ghanaian meals at the Grills Village, alongside cultural performances, live music, and family-friendly activities.

The exhibition runs daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with free entry for all.
