Prof. Alidu Mahama Seidu, a Senior Lecturer at the University of Ghana’s Political Science Department, has emerged winner of the Tamale Central parliamentary primaries of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He secured victory with 840 votes, defeating 11 other aspirants, including three women, in a hotly contested election held at the Alhaji Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium.
The primary was organized to elect a replacement for the late MP, Alhaji Murtala Muhammed, who tragically lost his life in a helicopter crash alongside seven others last month.
Prof. Seidu’s commanding win drew commendations from his competitors, who congratulated him after Electoral Commission officials officially declared the results.
