LPG’s Kofi Akpaloo Slapped with ¢10 Million Bail Amid EOCO Probe into Fraud, Public Funds Dissipation & Money Laundering

Kofi Akpaloo, leader of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), is currently under investigation by the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) for a string of serious financial and criminal offenses, including fraud, financial loss to the state, dissipation of public funds, falsification of documents, and money laundering.

The EOCO Boss, Raymond Archer, confirmed the ongoing probe in a statement that has since sparked nationwide interest and debate. “LPG’s Kofi Akpaloo is being investigated for fraud, causing financial loss to the state, dissipation of public funds, falsification of documents and money laundering,” Archer revealed during a media briefing covered by GHOne TV.

This announcement follows an earlier report that Akpaloo had been granted bail set at ¢10 million, with the condition that two sureties must be justified before his release. Until those conditions are met, he remains in EOCO custody.

The scope of the investigation remains undisclosed, but the allegations suggest potential misappropriation of significant public resources and the use of falsified documentation to mask illicit activities.

Political analysts note that this development could have profound implications for Akpaloo’s political future and the image of the LPG as Ghana prepares for its upcoming elections. Public accountability groups have already begun calling for transparency in the investigation and swift judicial action if wrongdoing is established.

The EOCO has assured the public that due process will be followed and has urged citizens to avoid speculations as the investigation unfolds.

Further updates will be provided as new information becomes available
