I Would’ve Been ‘Slaughtered’ if Akwatia Poll Was Wrong – Mussa Dankwah

Executive Director of Global Info Analytics, Mussa Dankwah, says the Akwatia by-election projection by his outfit ranks among his most rewarding forecasts, given the immense pressure he faced.

Before the September 2, 2025 poll, his firm projected victory for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Bernard Baidoo Bediako, with 53% of the votes. The Electoral Commission’s certified results confirmed the prediction, with Bediako securing 18,199 votes, ahead of the New Patriotic Party’s Solomon Kwame Asumadu, who garnered 15,235. The Liberal Party of Ghana’s Owusu Patrick managed 82 votes out of 33,819 valid ballots, with 303 rejected.

Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show on Wednesday, September 3, Mr. Dankwah admitted that the stakes were unusually high.

“I knew I would have been taken to the slaughterhouse. They were preparing to take me there to finish me if I got this wrong,” he said.

He urged political parties to recognise that Ghana’s elections are no longer swayed by propaganda, insults, or emotional appeals, but rather by data and research.

“Over 70% of voters in Ghana today are below 35 years. They are connected, tech-savvy, and quick to fact-check. If they catch you lying, that’s the end,” he cautioned.

Mr. Dankwah stressed that the new voter demography demands that parties rethink their strategies and embrace issue-based campaigning backed by credible data.
