President John Dramani Mahama has charged Ghana’s newly appointed envoys to project the nation’s image with confidence and purpose as they assume their diplomatic roles.
Addressing them at an orientation programme in Accra on Monday, September 1, 2025, the President emphasized that modern diplomacy goes beyond ceremonial representation, requiring envoys to actively drive Ghana’s economic transformation agenda.
“Ambassadorial appointments are no longer reserved for retirees,” he stated. “They are required to establish bridgeheads in countries of postings to create opportunities for businesses and, at the same time, facilitate the flow of trade and investment into Ghana.”
Describing their assignments as both an honour and a solemn duty, President Mahama encouraged the diplomats to highlight Ghana’s strengths on the international stage.
“Tell Ghana’s story with confidence — not as a country confronted with challenges, but as a people defined by resilience and determination,” he said.
The orientation, themed “Harnessing the Dividends of Diplomacy for Ghana’s Reset Agenda,” brought together newly appointed ambassadors and high commissioners, who will represent Ghana across strategic global missions.
