EC Declares Readiness for Akwatia By-Election on September 2

The Electoral Commission (EC) has assured the public of its preparedness for the Akwatia by-election, slated for Tuesday, September 2, 2025.

Eastern Regional Director of the EC, John Appiah Baffoe, said the Commission has received and packaged all ballot papers and other election materials for distribution ahead of the polls.

He disclosed that 484 trained election officials will be deployed to oversee voting across 119 polling stations in the constituency.

Speaking to the media at the collation center on Monday, September 1, Mr. Baffoe reaffirmed the Commission’s readiness for a smooth exercise.

“The Commission is ready. We’ve gotten all the materials that we need for the election. The ballot papers, the BVDs, the registers, and all other materials are ready. We are set for distribution to ensure the election commences at 7 a.m. tomorrow. When it comes to our election officials, we have recruited 484 election officers,” he stated.

He further commended the security agencies for ensuring adequate deployment to safeguard the process and cautioned political supporters from outside Akwatia to conduct themselves peacefully.

A total of 52,328 registered voters in the Akwatia constituency are expected to cast their ballots in Tuesday’s exercise.
