Martin Kwaku Ayisi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Minerals Commission, has been reassigned to the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, government sources have confirmed to masemtvgh.com and 3News.com.
While the reasons for his reassignment have not been disclosed, the move comes after months of mounting pressure on the government to remove him from office.
In April 2025, the National Concerned Small-Scale Miners Association of Ghana (NCSSMAG) accused the Minerals Commission, under Ayisi’s leadership, of failing to provide effective responses to illegal mining challenges. The Association’s President, Michael Kwadwo Peprah, argued that the Commission’s “actions and inactions” had worsened land and water degradation, insisting that reforms were essential to strengthen government’s anti-galamsey fight.
It is not yet clear what specific role Mr. Ayisi will take up at the Lands and Natural Resources Ministry following his reassignment.
