The Ministry of Defence has announced that the board established to investigate the recent Z-9 helicopter crash has officially begun its work.
The board, chaired by the National Security Coordinator, comprises members from the Ghana Air Force and the Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation and Prevention Bureau of the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).
The United States is supporting the process by providing advice and assistance through investigators from the U.S. Air Force. The board also has the option to invite additional experts and institutions, both local and international, to aid in the inquiry.
According to the Ministry, a preliminary investigation team was constituted immediately after the incident, which occurred on August 6, 2025, to gather evidence. That team is expected to submit its findings to the board today.
The investigation board has been tasked with completing its work within 30 days.
