Asiedu Nketia Warns Against Alarmist Prophecies After Helicopter Crash

National Chairman of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has urged restraint in delivering prophecies in the wake of last Wednesday’s helicopter crash that claimed eight lives.

Speaking during the Muslim funeral rites of the late Alhaji Mohammed Muniru, one of the victims, Mr. Nketia reminded Ghanaians that nothing occurs outside the knowledge of the Supreme Being, whether called God or Allah.

“I want to urge everybody to gather courage. Since this tragic event, we have heard a lot of people talking about how they prophesied it was going to happen, but I believe as a Christian, and I believe it is so with Muslims, that nothing happens at the blind side of Allah,” he said.

He advised against burdening President John Dramani Mahama with further prophecies concerning the tragedy, encouraging instead that the will of God be allowed to prevail.

“And so those who are already prophesying about more calamity, let us continue praying to Allah that His will be done, and let us encourage our government leadership, particularly President John Dramani Mahama, that he should not be daunted by whatever prophecies are coming out, because we know that nothing happens on the blind side of Allah,” he added.

Mr. Nketia emphasized that the loss of lives should not be exploited to weaken the government. Rather, it should serve as a turning point for the nation to address societal ills, promote unity, and work towards national renewal.

The national funeral service for the victims is scheduled for Friday, August 15.
