Bantama MP and Minister for Works and Housing, Francis Asenso-Boakye, has extended heartfelt condolences to former President John Dramani Mahama, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and the bereaved families following the tragic military helicopter crash that claimed multiple high-profile lives.

“A nation in grief. Rest in peace, my friend, Hon. Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, and the other gallant national officers who tragically passed earlier today.
My deepest condolences to President John Dramani Mahama, the bereaved families, the NDC, the Ghana Armed Forces, and the entire nation. May their souls rest in perfect peace.”

Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, expressed deep sorrow over the incident:
“My heart is broken in ways words cannot begin to express.”
Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, also told journalists:
“This is a very difficult moment for all of us.”
Chief of Staff Julius Debrah officially confirmed the deaths during a press conference in Accra.
GAF Confirms Crash
Earlier in the day, the Ghana Armed Forces had released a statement confirming that a Z9 Air Force helicopter carrying three crew and five passengers had gone off radar after departing Accra en route to Obuasi.
Eyewitnesses later reported that the helicopter crashed and burned beyond recognition at Adansi Akrofrom.
An investigation has been launched into the cause of the crash, and national mourning protocols are expected to be announced soon.
