A tragic road accident has claimed the life of a Ghanaian teacher, Mr. Collins Boateng Osei, just a day after he passionately called for intensified efforts to combat the rising spate of road accidents in the country.
Mr. Osei, who was widely known for his dedication to education and civic issues, had taken to Facebook to express frustration over what he described as authorities “sleeping” on the issue of road safety.
“The number of accidents we are experiencing is quite high… We can’t continue losing precious human life in the manner that is happening,” he wrote in a heartfelt post, ending with the hashtag #MusingsofaconcernedGhanaian.
In a cruel twist of fate, Mr. Osei was reportedly involved in a fatal car crash less than 24 hours after publishing the post. Details of the accident are yet to be officially confirmed, but the news has sent shockwaves across social media, with many Ghanaians mourning the loss and calling for urgent reforms in road traffic management and enforcement.
His final message has since gone viral, being shared dozens of times with renewed urgency, as citizens demand action from the National Road Safety Authority and relevant stakeholders.
Friends, colleagues, and former students have described him as a passionate teacher, an active voice on social issues, and a patriotic Ghanaian who cared deeply about public welfare.
Many are now calling on authorities to honor his memory by taking immediate steps to address poor road conditions, reckless driving, and lack of enforcement of traffic laws—issues that continue to contribute to Ghana’s alarming road accident statistics.
