The Managing Director of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, has formally terminated the revenue assurance contract with Evatex Logistics Limited. Notably, no payments have been made to the company since the inception of the agreement.
According to documents obtained by masemtvgh.com, Evatex was served with a termination letter on July 28, 2025.
The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the award of the contract to Evatex Logistics, which has links to Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML). The former Board Chairman of GACL and host of Good Evening Ghana, Paul Adom-Otchere, was recently arrested in connection with the ongoing probe.
Evatex had been contracted to provide revenue assurance services for the cargo section at Kotoka International Airport. Per the contract terms, the firm would only be paid 15% of any recovered royalties or concealed revenues unearthed during its audit.
However, internal evaluations and audit documents reveal that Evatex has not identified any instances of revenue concealment to date. As a result, GACL has made no financial disbursements to the company.
Masem News also reports that prior to the signing of the Evatex contract, GACL’s MD had already ordered a special audit of the cargo section in June 2024. That audit found no evidence of revenue underreporting that would justify a revenue assurance engagement.
Despite this, the contract was awarded on the premise that payment would only be made if concrete evidence of concealment was uncovered—a condition that has not been met.
Sources within GACL confirm that the contract was terminated because Evatex failed to deliver any tangible findings or recouped funds. The agreement contained a provision allowing either party to terminate without cause, given one month’s written notice.
Investigations by the Special Prosecutor are ongoing, with more individuals expected to be questioned. The OSP is particularly focused on Evatex’s ties to SML, a controversial entity that was not formally party to the GACL contract but is believed to be connected.
