A lawyer for Paul Adom-Otchere, the former Board Chairman of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), has clarified that his client has not been formally charged by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
Speaking to the media on Friday, August 1, 2025, Nicholas Lenin Anane Agyei, a member of Mr. Adom-Otchere’s legal team, confirmed that while his client has been cautioned, no specific charges have been filed against him under Ghana’s criminal laws.
“As I speak to you, he has not been officially charged by the OSP. He has been cautioned and informed that the OSP is investigating suspected offences. So, as we speak, Mr. Adom-Otchere has not been charged with any specific offence known to our criminal laws,” Anane Agyei explained.
His statement follows Mr. Adom-Otchere’s release from custody after he fulfilled revised bail conditions. The new bail was secured with the support of the Jospong Group of Companies, which acted as surety. This arrangement reportedly came after discussions between his lawyers and the OSP.
Mr. Adom-Otchere was previously held after being unable to meet the initial bail requirement, citing his lack of landed property in Ghana. He is currently under investigation over a revenue assurance contract allegedly awarded without full board approval.
In a related development, the Ghana Airports Company Limited has officially terminated the controversial contract with Evatex Logistics Limited. The termination letter, dated July 28, 2025, was signed by GACL Managing Director Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare.
The contract, which was signed on December 4, 2024, and due to end on August 27, 2025, was terminated after GACL found no evidence of revenue concealment during Evatex’s audit of cargo operations at Kotoka International Airport. Consequently, no payments have been made to the company.
The termination follows months of public scrutiny and an ongoing investigation by the OSP into the circumstances surrounding the contract’s award.
