Attorney-General to Speak on uniBank Case and Asset Recovery Efforts on Monday – Kwakye Ofosu

The Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has revealed that Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, will speak at the upcoming Government Accountability Series on Monday, 28th July 2025.

In a Facebook post dated Wednesday, 23rd July, Mr. Kwakye Ofosu stated that Dr. Ayine will tackle all inquiries concerning the discontinued uniBank prosecution and will also update the public on the government’s anti-corruption campaign, known as Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL).

“He will address all questions about the uniBank matter, give a progress report on ORAL, and unveil details of a case he refers to as ‘RUMBLE IN THE JUNGLE,’” the minister wrote.

Additionally, the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Kofi Armah Buah, is expected to appear at the same forum today to present his ministry’s achievements and report on efforts to combat illegal mining (galamsey).

This announcement follows rising public scrutiny after the Attorney-General filed a nolle prosequi—a formal notice to discontinue prosecution—on 22nd July 2025 in the high-profile case involving former Finance Minister Dr. Kwabena Duffuor and seven others.

That case, officially titled The Republic v. Kwabena Duffuor & 7 Others (CR/0248/2020), stemmed from Ghana’s 2018 financial sector clean-up, which aimed to recoup misappropriated public funds and prosecute those allegedly responsible.

Dr. Duffuor, founder of the now-defunct uniBank, served as Finance Minister from 2009 to 2013 and as Governor of the Bank of Ghana between 1997 and 2001. In February 2020, he and the other defendants were charged with crimes including theft and money laundering.
