The Government of Ghana has begun the payment of nursing trainee allowances for the first half of 2025, covering the months of January to June, in a move aimed at clearing the six-month backlog and reaffirming its support for healthcare training across the country.
This development was confirmed by MasemTVGH.com, with several nursing trainees verifying that they have received their payments.
The payment process is being supervised by the Controller and Accountant General’s Department, with a renewed emphasis on transparency and accountability.
In a bid to prevent future delays, the government has introduced a new automated disbursement system. The system is expected to enhance efficiency, improve tracking, and ensure timely and consistent allowance payments to nursing trainees going forward.
Officials from the Ministry of Health say the initiative is part of a broader effort to strengthen support for healthcare personnel in training, particularly in the face of growing national demand for medical professionals.
The news has been welcomed by nursing trainees, student groups, and healthcare stakeholders, many of whom have long called for more reliable and predictable disbursement of trainee allowances.
As Ghana continues to invest in its healthcare workforce, the government’s commitment to resolving payment challenges is seen as a step in the right direction toward boosting morale and supporting the country’s health delivery system
