GES Reinstates PTAs in All Senior High, Technical, and STEM Schools

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the reinstatement of Parent-Teacher Associations (PTAs) in all pre-tertiary institutions nationwide.

This directive, issued under the instruction of President John Dramani Mahama, is aimed at deepening stakeholder engagement within the education sector.

In a press release dated Thursday, July 17, the GES highlighted that the initiative is intended to foster stronger collaboration among parents, teachers, and communities to enhance the delivery of quality education for Ghanaian students.

Heads of Public Senior High, Technical, and STEM schools have been instructed to immediately begin implementing the directive to restore PTAs.

“This initiative seeks to boost the active involvement of parents, teachers, and local communities in the educational development of learners,” the statement noted.

GES also indicated that detailed guidelines outlining the structure, responsibilities, and financial accountability of PTAs will be issued soon. These guidelines aim to promote transparency, consistency, and effective operation of PTAs across the country.

The GES is calling on all stakeholders, particularly parents and educators, to support the implementation of this renewed policy to ensure its success.
