The Western Central Regional Police Command has arrested two men for impersonating members of the Ghana Gold Board Taskforce and extorting money from unsuspecting gold dealers.
The suspects, identified as Foster Delord, 40, and Prince Worvi, 38, who claimed to be former military personnel, were arrested after a complaint revealed their fraudulent activities. According to reports, the duo had been visiting gold dealers while posing as Taskforce officials mandated to regulate gold trading.
Upon their arrest, police retrieved several items used to aid their deception, including a pair of handcuffs, a canister of pepper spray, an electric shock device, a set of uniform, and a cash amount of GHS 500.
They have been arraigned before the Tarkwa Circuit Court and remanded into police custody as further investigations continue.
The Regional Police Command has advised the public, particularly those in the gold trade, to be vigilant and always demand proper identification from individuals claiming to represent government bodies or regulatory agencies.
