Trotro Crashes Into Akufo-Addo’s Nima Residence Wall; Three Injured

A commercial minibus, popularly known as a trotro, has rammed into the fence wall of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s residence in Nima.

The incident occurred on the evening of Tuesday, July 16, around 7:30 p.m., sparking concerns over road safety and security in the area.

According to eyewitnesses, the green trotro was heading towards the Nkrumah Circle when it suddenly veered off the road and crashed into the perimeter wall. While the exact cause of the accident is not yet confirmed, eyewitnesses suspect brake failure.

“It looked like the brakes failed. The driver lost control and went straight into the wall,” one witness said. “One of the victims, the mate, was coughing blood.”

Three individuals, including the driver’s mate, sustained injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Their current conditions remain unknown.

The accident occurred just meters from the Nima Police Station, in a high-traffic zone used by vehicles commuting between Nima and Accra, Osu, and Circle.

The crash has raised fresh concerns about security at the former president’s residence, especially due to the lack of metal barricades or protective barriers between the residence and the busy road.

Authorities are expected to investigate the incident and assess any potential security implications.

More updates will be provided as the situation develops.
