The Member of Parliament for Pru East, Hon. Emmanuel Kweku Buam, has expressed concern over a significant road diversion affecting his constituency, bringing the issue to Parliament’s attention.
He explained that a section of the main road near Atebubu has been diverted by roughly 20 meters due to ongoing transit traffic between Atebubu and Yeji. As a result, motorists are now forced to use an alternative route that passes through Kintampo, Abaase, and Prine.
Hon. Buam questioned the Minister for Roads and Highways, Hon. Governs Kwame Agbodza, about his awareness of the worsening condition near the Atebubu-Yeji Bridge and urged that the issue be prioritized for urgent repairs.
In response, Minister Agbodza acknowledged the concern and confirmed that routine maintenance is planned for this year. He noted, however, that any additional work will depend on a detailed assessment of the damage reported by the MP.
The Minister also pointed out that the affected road forms part of the Inter-Regional Road IR04, specifically the 103.5 km stretch linking Amantin to Yeji. This route passes through the Amantin-Atebubu Municipality and the districts of Pru West and Pru East.
