Essikado-Ketan MP, Prof. Dr. Grace Ayensu Danquah, has issued a subtle but firm response to Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin’s recent remarks regarding her appointment as Deputy Minister of Health.
In Parliament, Afenyo-Markin had questioned the basis of her appointment, suggesting it was made for “strange reasons,” and contrasted it with the exclusion of other female MPs like Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings from ministerial positions.
In a Facebook post the day after the parliamentary exchange, Dr. Ayensu Danquah refrained from naming Afenyo-Markin directly but wrote: “No matter how badly they treat you, never drop down to their level. Stay strong, stay calm, and walk away.”
Her words have drawn attention and admiration across social media, with many lauding her calm and dignified response in the face of political tension.
Dr. Ayensu Danquah also used her platform to stress the value of integrity over accolades. “No matter how educated, talented, rich, or cool you believe you are, how you treat people ultimately tells all,” she shared, underlining the importance of humility in leadership.
Encouraging her followers to embrace both praise and critique, she added: “Accept both compliments and criticism. It takes both sun and rain for a flower to grow.”
She further cautioned against stifling dissent, stating: “An environment that is not safe to disagree in is not focused on growth. It’s focused on control.”
Her message concluded with a reflection on gratitude: “Happiness isn’t about getting what you want all the time. It’s about loving what you have and being grateful for it.”
