The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has announced that its upcoming Annual Delegates Conference, set for Saturday, July 19, will focus on significant constitutional reforms, including recommendations from the Prof. Mike Oquaye Committee and a pending proposal from the party’s 2019 conference in Kumasi.
Although the 2019 proposal was approved at the time, it had not yet been formally tabled for review — until now.
At a press briefing ahead of the event, NPP Director of Communications, Richard Ahiagbah, revealed that the proposed changes, if endorsed, would lead to amendments aimed at strengthening the party’s internal framework and enhancing its prospects for the 2028 elections.
“The package includes amendments proposed by party members, as well as recommendations from the Mike Oquaye Committee,” Ahiagbah explained. “These will be deliberated on during the conference.”
He also shared the theme for this year’s gathering: “Rebuilding Together With Our Values.”
Ahiagbah praised the work of the main planning committee, led by Hon. Joseph Osei-Owusu and supported by Henry Nana Boakye, for their dedication and efforts behind the scenes.
“The hard work and contributions from the committee and other committed individuals have led to the preparations we see today. We believe this theme will inspire the kind of renewal and unity the NPP needs moving forward,” he said.
