In a deeply troubling incident from South Tapanuli, North Sumatra, Indonesia, a 45-year-old man, identified as Parlindungan Siregar, allegedly killed his 60-year-old neighbor, Asgim Irianto, following a long-standing feud involving personal taunts and disputes over livestock.
According to The Straits Times, the attack occurred around 8 p.m., when Siregar, reportedly fed up with repeated remarks about his unmarried status, lashed out violently at the elderly man. The tension between the two had reportedly escalated over time, fueled not only by persistent questions about Siregar’s marital status but also disagreements regarding their hens.
Witnesses say Siregar struck Irianto with a wooden object and chased him into the street, where concerned residents tried to intervene. Unfortunately, Irianto succumbed to his injuries while being rushed to the hospital.
The victim, a retired public servant, was known in the area, and the tragic event has left the local community in shock.
Police are investigating the incident, and the suspect has reportedly been taken into custody. Authorities have urged the public to resolve disputes through dialogue and warned against letting personal frustrations escalate into violence.
This case highlights the dangerous consequences of unresolved personal conflicts and emotional provocation, especially when paired with underlying mental or emotional strain.
