Former New Juaben South Municipal Chief Executive, Ike Apaw Gyasi, has hailed Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as a well-prepared and capable leader, poised to steer both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Ghana toward significant progress.
Speaking on masemtvgh.com on Monday, June 23, ahead of a meeting between Dr. Bawumia and former MMDCEs of the NPP, Apaw Gyasi praised the former Vice President’s leadership credentials and called on Ghanaians to assess policies and national leadership beyond political affiliations.
“I plead with Ghanaians to be patient. When the economy thrives, it benefits everyone. We shouldn’t let partisanship cloud our judgment. Ghana is bigger than any individual or party,” he said.
He urged citizens to rally behind initiatives that positively impact the country, irrespective of which party introduces them.
“If a policy is good for Ghana, it deserves our support no matter who introduces it. For me, it’s always Ghana first,” he stressed.
According to Apaw Gyasi, Ghana is on the verge of the transformation it has long sought, and Dr. Bawumia is the right figure to champion that vision. He argued that leadership requires nurturing and that Dr. Bawumia has grown into a capable and visionary statesman.
“Leadership must be given the space and time to grow. Dr. Bawumia has been nurtured through national service and experience, and I believe he will make an excellent president,” he remarked.
His endorsement comes as the NPP gears up for its next presidential primaries, slated for January 31, 2026. The date was confirmed by NPP General Secretary Justin Frimpong Koduah, following approval by the party’s National Council, based on recommendations from the constitution review committee.
Koduah indicated that the chosen date is final and not subject to further voting at the delegates’ conference.
