NPP Flagbearer Race: Adutwum Campaign Urges Party Members to Respect Decisions, Avoid Public Outbursts

The campaign team of New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has called for an end to public media commentary over the party’s internal decision to hold its flagbearer election before other executive contests.

The National Executive Committee’s (NEC) move to prioritize the flagbearer selection has sparked debate within some quarters of the party. However, the Adutwum camp insists that such concerns should be addressed internally through party structures.

Speaking on The Big Issue on Saturday, June 21, 2025, Yaw Opoku Mensah, spokesperson for the Adutwum Campaign Team, expressed disapproval of ongoing media discussions about the NEC’s decision, urging party members to uphold internal cohesion.

“Instead of engaging in media debates over a matter that can be addressed within party frameworks, we should focus on internal discussions. Treating this as a family issue will serve everyone better and protect the party’s image,” he stated.

Opoku Mensah stressed that decisions taken by the party leadership must be respected by all members, even if some initially disagree.

“If there are concerns, the appropriate platform to raise them is at Congress. But once a decision is made, it becomes a collective position we must all support. As loyal members of the party, we should work together to make the most of such decisions,” he added.

The comments come amid growing divisions over the timing and sequencing of the NPP’s internal elections ahead of the 2026 general polls. The Adutwum team has joined calls for unity and discipline in navigating internal processes.
