Former Assin Central MP and 2024 NPP flagbearer aspirant, Kennedy Agyapong, has voiced strong concerns over recent internal electoral reforms introduced by the New Patriotic Party (NPP), cautioning against decisions that could undermine fairness within the party.
Speaking to masemtvgh.com at a Capacity Building Conference organised by TESCON at the Kumasi Technical University (KsTU), Mr. Agyapong criticised the party’s move to elect a flagbearer before conducting other key internal elections.
He argued that such a sequence has the potential to breed internal discontent and could be perceived as a deliberate attempt to favour a particular candidate.
“There must be transparency and fairness in everything we do as a party. If we continue to take decisions that appear skewed, we will only end up deepening internal divisions,” Agyapong warned.
He called on party leadership to prioritise unity and equitable processes in all decisions leading up to the 2026 general elections.
Agyapong’s comments add to a growing list of voices within the party raising questions about the National Executive Committee’s recent decisions and their potential impact on party cohesion.
