Akuapim North MP, Sammi Awuku, has declared that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia remains the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) best chance of reclaiming power in the 2028 general elections.
Speaking on Citi Eyewitness News on Thursday, June 19, Awuku expressed firm confidence in the former Vice President’s ability to lead the party, citing his performance during turbulent economic periods as evidence of his capability.
“I believe Dr. Bawumia presents us with a very good opportunity to win 2028,” Awuku stated. “Despite the tough times we’ve been through — post-COVID challenges, global economic shocks — he managed affairs with resilience and competence.”
He went on to commend Bawumia’s leadership, personal integrity, and commitment to the party’s cause, noting that his qualities set him apart as a unifying and capable leader.
“He stood in the gap for the NPP. I believe in his achievements, his character, and the strength and integrity he brings to the table,” he added.
Awuku’s remarks add to the growing chorus of support for Bawumia as the NPP begins positioning itself for the next election cycle.
