Minister for Education, Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, has hinted of the formation of a special task force to oversee the safe and eco-friendly disposal of sanitary pads in schools across the country. He hopes to achieve this with the collaboration of the Gender ministry.
The task force will develop sustainable strategies to tackle menstrual hygiene issues in schools while promoting environmental responsibility. The meeting also explored new initiatives aimed at improving Health and Well-being Education, with a focus on empowering young learners with knowledge on hygiene, reproductive health, and environmental care.
Hon. Iddrisu also expressed his commitment to work with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) to pilot digital learning in some selected schools in the country.
The minister made the remarks during a meeting with UNFPA Country Representative, Dr. Wilfred Ochan, where both parties reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaboration on health and well-being education for Ghanaian children.
