The National Identification Authority (NIA) has announced that it will commence the payment of 20% salary arrears owed to its staff, effective January 2025.
At a press briefing on Wednesday, June 18, the NIA’s Head of Corporate Affairs, Williams Ampomah Emmanuel Darlas, disclosed that the payment has been factored into the Authority’s 2025 budget. He further noted that the proposal has received the green light from both the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission and the Ministry of Finance.
He assured staff that necessary administrative steps are already in progress to facilitate prompt disbursement.
“Just yesterday, the Ministry of Finance, led by Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, confirmed receipt of the letter and pledged to expedite the process, forwarding it to the Controller and Accountant General so that the staff can finally receive their 20% salary arrears dating back to January,” Darlas said. “Let me assure all NIA staff that the arrears will be paid.”
