The Government of Ghana has received a €5 million grant from the Italian government to boost technical and vocational education and training (TVET) nationwide.
Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu made the announcement during the inauguration of the new Governing Board of the Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET) in Accra.
“I’m happy to share that Italy is supporting Ghana’s TVET agenda with a €5 million grant,” the Minister said, adding, “If I were to recommend institutions to benefit from this support, you would certainly be considered.”
He noted that the financial support will be pivotal in equipping more Ghanaian youth with practical skills, promoting entrepreneurship, and reducing dependency on the already stretched public sector for jobs.
“We must start developing entrepreneurs who can generate employment for themselves and others, rather than solely depending on public sector opportunities. This is why today’s inauguration is crucial,” he stated.
The newly sworn-in board is chaired by Sebastin Fred Deh and comprises members Rejoice Emefa Dankwa, Gloria Bortele Noi, Divine Yao Ayidzoe, Caroline Chapman Agyemang, Zakaria Sulemana, Arko Dometey, Yvonne Asare-Yeboa, Dennis Kwadwo Danquah, Imran Shams Kwakye, Dr. Kingsley Arkorful, Rahinatu Mahama Yakubu, and Dr. Eric Kfi Adzroe.
In his address, Chairman Deh assured that the board will remain dedicated to the growth of technical and vocational education in Ghana, pledging to drive initiatives that will positively impact national development.
