Bosomtwe MP and former Education Minister, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, has formally announced his intention to contest for the flagbearer position of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), ahead of the party’s next presidential primary.
In a post shared on his official Facebook page, Dr. Adutwum declared his readiness to serve the party and the country with “humility, conviction, and a resolute heart,” stating that he will seek the party’s nomination once the process is formally opened.
“With humility, conviction, and a resolute heart, I, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, declare my intent to run for the Flagbearership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), should nominations be officially opened by the party,” the post read.
Dr. Adutwum’s announcement marks a significant development within the NPP as the party prepares for a competitive race to elect its next presidential candidate ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Known for his educational reforms and focus on STEM development during his tenure as Minister for Education, Dr. Adutwum is expected to campaign on a platform of transformation, innovation, and youth empowerment.
His declaration is anticipated to energize supporters within his Bosomtwe Constituency and beyond, especially among NPP members who view his technocratic background and disciplined leadership as assets for the party’s future direction.
Party insiders say his entrance into the race could reshape the dynamics of the contest, which is expected to attract several high-profile contenders.
The NPP leadership has yet to officially open nominations for the flagbearer race, but Dr. Adutwum’s early declaration signals a growing momentum as aspirants begin to position themselves ahead of the formal call.
