Electoral Commission Chairperson, Jean Mensa, is slated to appear before Parliament this week to respond to concerns over the delayed resolution of the parliamentary election results in the Ablekuma North Constituency.
The area has been without a representative in Parliament since the December 7 general elections, following a dispute over vote collation at certain polling stations.
This prolonged impasse has left constituents unrepresented for more than six months.
On June 4, the Minority in Parliament officially petitioned the Ghana Police Service, requesting adequate security to facilitate a safe and transparent re-collation process by the Electoral Commission.
Jean Mensa is expected to update Parliament’s Committee of the Whole on the steps taken so far to address the issue.
MPs are also anticipated to press for a clear timeline on when the EC will conclude the collation and officially announce the final results.
