Dennis Miracles Aboagye, the former Communications Director for Dr. Bawumia’s 2024 campaign, has sharply criticized members of Kennedy Agyapong’s camp for making disparaging remarks against Dr. Bawumia, who is also vying for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer position.
Speaking on Okay FM on Monday, June 9, 2025, Aboagye described some of the comments—particularly those from Kennedy Agyapong himself—as divisive and counterproductive to party unity.
He also dismissed allegations by Kwasi Kwarteng, spokesperson for Agyapong, who claimed the recently concluded “Thank You Tour” by Dr. Bawumia and NPP leadership was a covert campaign. Aboagye refuted this, asserting that the tour involved all national executives and was not targeted at promoting a particular candidate. “Our party does not engage in public insults or air internal issues in public. The Thank You Tour was not a campaign,” he emphasized.
Aboagye further warned Agyapong’s supporters that their negative tactics could backfire in the primaries.
He urged them not to act like victims if the results don’t favor them, noting that NPP delegates are wise and base their choices on merit, not tribalism or personal attacks. “If you go about making baseless accusations and the delegates don’t vote for you, don’t play the victim.
NPP delegates vote based on integrity and leadership potential, not insults,” he stated. He concluded by praising Dr. Bawumia’s dignified conduct, highlighting that he never resorted to attacking opponents to gain votes—a contrast to the approach taken by Agyapong’s team, which he believes cost them in the 2023 primaries.
