Ken Ofori-Atta Declared Wanted Again by Special Prosecutor

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has once again listed former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta as a wanted individual after he failed to appear in person as instructed.

In a strongly worded statement on Monday, June 2, Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng expressed frustration over Mr. Ofori-Atta’s continued delays and lack of cooperation with the criminal investigation underway.

“This office has consistently requested his physical presence and has made it clear we will not accept a statement in absentia. If that were an option, we would have accepted it back in February, not waited until June,” the OSP stated. “We are demanding his presence. A criminal suspect cannot dictate how an investigation is conducted based on their preferences. Such behavior will not be tolerated.”

Mr. Ofori-Atta had reportedly requested to join the proceedings virtually, citing health issues. His legal team had provided medical documentation to both the OSP and the Human Rights Court, indicating that he is undergoing treatment abroad and unable to travel.

Despite these claims, the OSP insists that Mr. Ofori-Atta must be physically present to answer allegations related to financial crimes, including money laundering and causing financial loss to the state.

With this declaration, Mr. Ofori-Atta is officially reinstated on the wanted list, potentially prompting international enforcement actions such as an INTERPOL Red Notice.
