Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Dr. Nana Freduah Agyemang Badu II, the Dormaahene and President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs, has called on President John Dramani Mahama to launch an investigation into the controversial National Cathedral project.
His remarks follow widespread public concern over the project’s financial management, particularly the reported $58 million allocated to its development.
Speaking during Mahama’s ‘Thank You’ tour on Friday, May 30, the Dormaahene underscored the need for justice and transparency in national governance.
“Don’t fear anyone in your pursuit of justice. If you are afraid and fail to do what is required, Your Excellency, it will not be beneficial,” he emphasized.
While expressing uncertainty over the full details of the project, he insisted that the matter deserved a thorough probe.
“Regarding the National Cathedral and the $58 million—whether the person involved is a pastor, a chief, or whoever they may be—As for that pit. I don’t understand the entire situation, but it must be investigated,” he stated.
He further warned Mahama against ignoring public outcry and urged him to ensure accountability, regardless of who might be implicated.
“Don’t let anyone convince you that it’s not worth investigating. If you ignore it, Ghanaians will be disappointed in you,” the traditional leader cautioned.
