The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Sunyani East, Vincent Antwi Agyei, says his rise to political office is the result of years of grassroots involvement, loyalty to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and dedication to community development.
Speaking in a one-on-one interview with Kwame Fresh Lofty on Bono 107.5 FM Adekyeɛ Mu Nsɛm (Morning show), Mr. Antwi Agyei recounted his political journey, stating that he began learning on the job in local government when he had the opportunity to serve as an aide to the late former Municipal Chief Executive, Kwasi Oppong.
“I have learnt on the job and in local government right from the beginning when I had the opportunity to be the aide to the late former Municipal Chief Executive Kwasi Oppong,” he said.
According to him, his commitment to the NDC runs deep, noting that all his family members are staunch supporters of the party. As a former youth organizer for the Sunyani East NDC, he said his efforts were instrumental in helping the party reclaim the parliamentary seat from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Despite never having spoken directly with former President John Dramani Mahama, Mr. Antwi Agyei believes it was his hard work at the constituency level that earned him the MCE appointment. He sees this as both a recognition and a responsibility.
He pledged to prioritize the development of the Sunyani East municipality and called on residents to support his “resetting agenda” aimed at revitalizing local governance and infrastructure.
“I am here to work for the good of Sunyani East. I call on everyone—irrespective of political affiliation—to support this new direction for the benefit of all,” he urged.
